Health care on a higher level isn't just a slogan at Rapides Regional Medical Center; it is what Rapides has been doing on a daily basis in Central Louisiana for nearly 120 years.

"It is home to Rapides Women's and Children's Hospital, Rapides Cancer Center, Rapides Outpatient Center and Rapides Regional Trauma Center, while three Rapides Urgent Care centers and Rapides Regional Physician Group also fall under its brand. Rapides is the region's leader in heart care, offering open-heart surgery, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, micropacemakers, electrophysiology, convergent procedure, and cath-lab services.

It also is home to the only complete Brainlab neurosurgical suite in Louisiana, and two da Vinci Xi robotic surgical systems. Coming online in 2021 will be the area's first hybrid operating room that combines the features of a regular operating room with image­ guided interventional procedures.

The Rapides Regional Trauma Center was Louisiana's first Level II trauma center, and its emergency department is one of the largest in the state. Rapides Women's and Children's Hospital is home to a 34-bed newborn intensive care unit that is the largest in central Louisiana, as well as the only pediatric ICU in the area.

Rapides also helps train the next generation of physicians through the LSU Family Practice Residency Center, LSU Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic, Tulane GYN Clinic and Tulane Ophthalmology Clinic.

Imaging services include CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound and MRI services. Most results are returned same day. Testing is available 24/7, including nights and weekends. The hospital is open when other imaging facilities are closed.

Central Louisiana Surgical Hospital is a patient-focused, physician-owned hospital dedicated to providing quality care and offering the latest cutting-edge medical technology.

In 2020, Central Louisiana Surgical Hospital introduced two new state-of the-art medical options - the OASIS MRI Machine and Mako robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery. The OASIS MRI machine is patient-first health care at its finest. This open magnet machine offers wide open comfort without compromising efficiency, image quality or safety. MRls are an integral part of health care, but they can sometimes be uncomfortable and even scary to some patients in high-stress situations.

Mako robotic assisted surgery is specifically offered to knee replacement patients and is the first of its kind in Central Louisiana. This procedure allows physicians to create a personalized joint replacement surgical plan based on their patient's unique anatomy. With the help of the robotic arm, the physician tailors the plan to each individual patient allowing fewer incisions, preserving soft tissue, and providing an added layer of healthy bone protection.

CHRISTUS ST. FRANCES CABRINI HOSPITAL

CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital continues to thrive on the forefront of the latest medical advancements. A fully-accredited 295-bed hospital, employing almost 2,000 associates with nearly 350 on its medical staff, CHRISTUS Cabrini is one of the strongest economic forces in the area. Boasting three community clinics for the underserved populations of Cenla, it is the only children's Miracle Network Hospital in the region.

ALEXANDRIA VA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

The Alexandria VA Health Care System is a Joint Commission­ accredited facility with 1,200 employees serving 32,000 veterans within 23 of Louisiana's 64 parishes. Pineville is the home of the main facility with outpatient clinics that are VA staffed in Fort Polk, Jennings, Lafayette, Lake Charles and Natchitoches. Provided care includes primary care; outpatient acute medical care without an intensive care unit; urgent care clinic with limited hours; outpatient mental health care provided by coordinating multiple disciplines such as psychiatry, psychology and social work to provide programs in intensive case management, individual and group counseling, post-traumatic stress disorder treatment, assistance for homeless veterans, substance use disorders, suicide prevention, Veterans Justice Outreach and therapeutic and supported employment services; inpatient acute psychiatric care; outpatient specialty care including audiology, cardiology, ophthalmology, optometry, orthopedics, podiatry and speech pathology; ambulatory surgery; dental care for eligible veterans; physical medicine and rehabilitation services that include chiropractic care; telehealth services in a variety of disciplines to facilitate access to care across the entire health care system; and Community Living Center at the Pineville campus, which includes palliative care and Alzheimer's units.
